Overall this module has helped me
develop an understanding of the context in which graphic design can be immensely
influential in a commercial way in terms of politics. Throughout the module I have
evaluated the impact the branding can have on the political sphere, which has
made me want to delve deeper into the subject; hence the theme of my 2nd
year cop. I believe the designs I created went through a developmental stage,
through the use of crits and feedback I managed to create a design that is
effective and meets the needs of the brief I set myself. I think I managed to
do this through my extensive research in both reading and internet sources to
be able to get the information I knew I needed to create a successful campaign
that both represents the brand, and picks out the failings of the opposition. The
skills that I have taken away from this, such as essay writing, I will be bringing
into my second year cop modules. I have learnt that I need to leave a lot of
time to read and do research to inform my ideas with a broad range of
information rather than trying to gather it from one source. The feedback from
tutors were helpful, but next year I will sign up to more tutorials to get more
feedback in between the writing stages rather than after. I believe the essay
skills I have learnt have helped me produce two essays to a good standard, they
have evidentiary support that both supports and contradicts my arguments which
allowed me to come to a balanced conclusion. In future I will be spending more
time making notes whilst doing my research to bring parts of it back into my
essay, over a range of different medias, making them more informed and possible
more evenly balanced.
