Study Task 7 - Pitch your ideas/ Feedback/ Further Developments

In pairs we were to introduce our brief to our peers and pitch the three prototypes. We were to talk through the solutions discussing a) how each resolves the design problem, b) your design decisions, c) material/production considerations and d) any distribution considerations. This is to be a quick discussion.

Design Idea 2
Design Idea 3
A)
Tells the audience what the other parties have done to harm the cause that the green party are trying to resolve.
Makes it clear that you should vote green in 2020.
Tells you what they’re going to do to fix the issue.
The text is hard to read for an A3 poster.
Gives a strong and clear brand identity link to the green party branding.
The large side text makes it evident to the audience what the poster is regarding alongside the logo.
Addition of social media address would allow the audience to further follow the party. E.g. the twitter address.
B)
The 2020 being the largest thing on the page takes away from the branding focus.
The green on black makes the small writing unclear.
The rotation of the policy makes it clear what policy the poster is regarding.
Good use of green to give it a link to the brand, can’t miss it.
Rotation makes the policy stand out.
The white makes the policy that the green party are conveying clear, draws in the audience’s eye/ attention.
C)
May struggle to print on recycled paper because of how light the green has been made to see the black text.
Would work well as a screen print, but might not be viable for mass production.
The colour would look good with the texture of an alternative paper coming through.
Would work best as a digital print or screen print, screen print would show the simplicity of the layers better and save energy, making it better for the environment.
D)
These could be pasted to the gig stands around Leeds, getting the information to the right audience.
Easy to make many small handouts, could even size down to A5.
Easily mass produced if digitally printed.
May cost more due to the amount of green ink on the page.
Would make more of a statement because of the amount of colour that relates to the brand identity.

After this discussion I took into consideration what had been said, I chose to go with the third design as it seemed to create more of an impact on the peer’s assessments both times. I have made adjustments in terms of adding the twitter address for the green party in the top corner, still following the grid therefore not compromising the design. I also changed the twitter logo to the green party logo colours, giving it an incorporation into the brand identity of the rest of the visuals, this also gives a balance of green between the top and the bottom of the page. I have also experimented with both making the poster/flyers on recycled craft paper, through digital methods, to see how the outcome would turn out. It allows for the texture to show through and gives the green a certain opacity.
